Super Mario Sunshine: Fun on Delfino Island

Super Mario Sunshine is the spiritual successor to Super Mario 64, the player is tasked with collecting shine sprites throughout the game, each shine coming from an individual challenge or task. there are a total of 120 shines. but the player is only required to collect only 60 in order to access the final boss fight and finish the game.

These shines are spread across 7 stages, with everything from the beautiful blue water of Ricco Harbor to the perfect white sand of Gelato Beach, And each of these regions is truly beautiful.

Given that the game was released in July of 2002 the graphical content has held up extremely well. something about the bright cartoon style of the game just seems to stand the test of time.

Alongside the graphical longevity of the game, the gameplay mechanics themselves still hold up to modern day standards, the play style is a fun mix of classical Super Mario Jumping platformer and the FLUDD water device as a new and interesting mechanic. allowing the player to face certain challenges with different possible solutions. For example a player can leap over a puddle of Goo or they can use the FLUDD to clear a path.
